Our Projects & Impact
Our projects aren’t just about turbines - they’re about empowering people and transforming communities.
We're helping to bridge the energy gap with clean, renewable electricity—improving quality of life in remote areas that continue to be underserved by grid infrastructure.
Our Impact
-
Demand
Communities we work with achieve 16.5% reduction in fossil fuel dependency on average.
-
Access
Thanks to WindAid electricity, communities on average gain an extra three hours of light each day.
-
Efficiency
On average communities with WindAid turbines save 40-50 Sol on energy costs per month.
PROJECT SALPO
Salpo, Ushcos community:
Salpo is a picturesque district in La Libertad highlands region, located about three hours from the city of Trujillo. Surrounded by breathtaking green mountain landscapes, it is a place of deep cultural heritage—but also one that faces significant challenges. Its remote setting means limited access to reliable electricity and infrastructure, leaving many residents underserved.
Installation: 2025
Location: La Libertad in Northern Peru
Altitude: 3,000 meters
Population Served: 6 inhabitants
Beneficiary Demographics: Male: 3 Female: 3, Age range: x-93 years
Economic Activity: Traditional mining and agriculture.
WindAid Team: 6 Participants
Turbines installed: 2
Budget: 6,000 USD
Ushcos is one of 47 communities in the region, home to just six families who previously had no access to electricity. In 2024, WindAid engaged with the community, and by early 2025, each household was equipped with a renewable energy system combining wind and solar power.
We chose to partner with this community because it presented a powerful opportunity for sustainable impact. We are helping to bridge the energy gap with clean, renewable electricity—improving quality of life today, while empowering Salpo to build a bright, resilient tomorrow.
PROJECT SAN PEDRO PARTE ALTA Y BAJA
San Pedro parte Alta y Baja:
Located about three hours from the city of Trujillo, the area is known for its stunning views and rural, traditional way of life.
Installation: 2024-2025
Location: District of Agallpampa, region of La Libertad.
Altitude: 2,800 meters
Population Served: 14 inhabitants
Demographics: Age range: 4-61
Economic Activity: Agriculture
WindAid Team: 47 Participants
Turbines installed: 4 (serving 4 households)
Budget: 12,000 USD
It comprises two regions, both of which share a strong sense of community that helps them make the most of limited resources. However, a significant proportion of households still lack access to electricity.
WindAid saw the potential to transform lives by bringing sustainable electricity to these rural communities—lighting homes and unlocking opportunities.
PROJECT NUEVO CALIFORNIA
Nuevo California:
Nuevo California is a small rural community in the highlands. The surrounding mountains are crisscrossed with hundreds of narrow dirt tracks that serve as the primary transportation routes for remote communities.
Installation: 2022-2024
Location: District of Agallpampa, region of Otuzco, La Libertad.
Altitude: 2,200 meters
Economic Activity: Agriculture, subsistence farming.
WindAid Team: 42 participants
Turbines installed: 8 (serving 7 households)
Budget: 24,000 USD
This place of tranquil beauty comes with a trade-off: its isolation presents a challenge—developing infrastructure across such dispersed communities is not feasible for the local government.
Recognizing this need, WindAid stepped in to help bridge the energy gap by offering a sustainable solution.
PROJECT PLAYA BLANCA
Playa Blanca:
Playa Blanca is a coastal fishing community in Peru’s Sechura District, nestled in the Piura region at 2,200 meters above sea level—just a three-hour journey from the city of Trujillo. Known for its peaceful beaches, wide stretches of white sand, and calm, welcoming waters, Playa Blanca is a hidden gem on Peru’s northern coast.
Installation: 2014-2019
Location: Sechura District, Piura Region.
Altitude: 2,200 meters
Economic Activity: Fishing
WindAid Team: 331 participants
Turbines installed: 25 (serving 23 households & 2 community centers)
Budget: $75,000
The community values and promotes sustainable tourism, encouraging visitors to protect the natural beauty of the area by minimizing waste and respecting the environment.
Playa Blanca represents one of WindAid’s most significant deployments, with sustained program engagement from 2014 to 2019. Over this period, WindAid engineered and installed 27 standalone wind turbine systems designed to supply renewable energy directly to individual residential units. These installations played a critical role in advancing localized energy independence and reducing reliance on non-renewable sources. The initiative contributed meaningfully to the community’s transition toward a more sustainable energy infrastructure. Detailed information about the project is available here and on our YouTube channel.
