WindAid Projects

See whom Volunteer WindAid has helped so far and how being a recipient of a wind turbine has made a difference.

Scallop Farming Business - Puerto Morin

The first wind turbine installed by WindAid was for a small start-up business located in a coastal town near Trujillo. The business fishes and farms scallops and has an office set back from the beach front, with no utility power connection available.

A 2kW wind turbine was installed on their property to power the lights and computers in the office. Using a wind turbine has meant they no longer need the expensive diesel generator they previously relied upon, saving the business money and enabling it to become more competitive in the fierce Peruvian fishing market.

The company now employs over 60 local people from the surrounding communities.

Escuela Democratica School - Huamachuco

A 2kW wind turbine was installed for a school in a remote location within the mountains of Peru. The school is for 150 children living in the villages and towns of the surrounding area, and consists of 8 classrooms, a library, kitchen and other educational facilities.

The wind turbine not only provides electricity for the school by day, but for adult learning classes and community events held during the evenings.
