Schools and Educational Programs

We believe that the WindAid program is a unique way of equipping people with an understanding of climate change, renewable technologies, global awareness, confidence and the life skills they need for further study or employment. And along the way we strive to provide every participant with a life-changing and eye-opening journey.

Please contact us to find out how WindAid can educate and inspire your students.

How do students benefit?

Volunteering offers indispensable life skills and can play an incredible role in the personal development of every student. Along with leadership, team-building opportunities and cultural awareness, the benefits of volunteering abroad are huge. Some benefits include:

  • Cultural, Educational and Fun life changing experiences
  • The opportunity to be involved in sustainable and environmental community development projects
  • An insight into climate change and how appropriate technologies can make a difference
  • Exposure to new and interesting cultures
  • A safe and structured travel experience

Safety

Safety is the number priority for our volunteers and we provide health and safety inductions to all participants and provide a skilled and trained engineer throughout the duration of the wind turbine building and installation phase. We aim to create a safe environment for our volunteers and all safety precautions are taken at every stage of the volunteer programme. A volunteer coordinator is also on hand 24 hours a day.

Volunteers are accommodated in a safe neighbourhood of Trujillo and if required, security is provided in the host community during the wind turbine installation. However Trujillo is a safe place and just like every large city in the world certain common sense precautions are required.

Tailor made experiences

We are not a one size fits all organisation and in addition to our 5-week and long term placement opportunities which young people can join directly, we can extend our volunteer programs by creating tailor made experiences for schools and groups interested in education trips abroad and for other organisations that have an interest in sustainable projects, climate change or renewable technologies.
