Long Term Volunteering

We are always looking for enthusiastic and energetic people to join us at WindAid.

WindAid offers an inclusive 5-week volunteer program during which volunteers build and install a wind turbine and present it for free to a community in Peru.

However, if you are a volunteer with more time on your hands WindAid can provide volunteer opportunities. Working with WindAid provides an ideal opportunity for you to gain experience working on sustainable projects, helping encourage conservation and educating people on the benefits of appropriate and renewable technologies.

Be it a gap year, sabbatical, career break or simply a change of career you have the chance to be directly involved in making a positive and long lasting difference in the lives of people living in Peru.

There are a variety of roles you can fill at WindAid, be it building wind turbines, searching for, meeting and preparing communities for receiving wind turbines or developing and designing appropriate and renewable technologies to be used as alternative energy solutions.

The normal working hours for volunteers are 9am - 6pm, Monday to Friday. Proficiency in Spanish is not essential but ability to speak the language will increase your opportunities with WindAid.

If you are interested in what we are trying to achieve and wish to volunteer please complete the volunteer application form.

$1750 per month - You will live-in at the WindAid accommodation and receive 2 meals per day (5 days a week). We will cover all your transport for volunteer related activites (such as travel to various communities in Peru). You will have full support from our volunteer coordinator in preparing for your travel to Peru and during your stay in Trujillo, access to Spanish classes and receive a WindAid Shirt and/or hat :-).

Part of your volunteer fee also helps pay for the wind turbines that we build as well as other essential items such as light bulbs and radios for communities that currently have nothing.

Trujillo is a colonial city known as “La Ciudad de la Eterna Primavera”, “The City of Eternal Spring” because of its very sunny weather all year round. The third largest city in Peru, it is located in North Peru and just 10 minutes away from the world famous beach resort of Huanchaco. For those traveling onwards there is easy access via the Pan American Highway North to Mancora and Ecuador or South to Lima, Cusco and Bolivia.

Living in Trujillo

Your accommodation will be in a safe neighborhood within close distance of the city centre, shopping malls and place of work at the WindAid facility. There is electricity, hot showers, flushing toilets and Internet access close by. Food is a nutritious and cultural range of Peruvian and South American dishes and is prepared for you each day. There are plenty of excellent restaurants, shopping malls, department stores, nightclubs and bars making Trujillo a modern city.
